Green Eclipse WebSetup

Preparing your system

The software on this website requires certain system updates (Windows Installer 1.1, Visual Basic 6.0 SP5 runtime) to function properly. WebSetup, the automated setup technology used on this site, uses a combination of the WebSetup automation software by Green Eclipse, and the Microsoft Windows Installer, the same setup technology used in Microsoft Office and a wide variety of different Windows software. To use the Windows Installer, you need to have it on your system. Almost all computers already have it. You can download the latest update if necessary (at least 1.1 is required) from Microsoft:

If you have Windows 8, 7, Vista, 2008, XP, or 2003, you do not need to download anything.

If you have Windows 95, 98, or ME:
download this file.

If you have Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 6 or Windows 2000:
download this file.

If you have Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3, 4, or 5:
download this file (version 1.1).

The files are approximately 1.7 MB; you only need to download the one of them that matches your system. After you install the update, you may be asked to restart your computer. You will need a second update, the Visual Basic 6.0 SP5 runtime. You can get this update from Microsoft by clicking the following link:

If you have Windows 8, 7, Vista, 2008, XP, ME, 2000, or 2003, you do not need to download anything.

All older versions of Windows:
download this file.

After installing this file, you will need to restart your computer again. If you wish, you can install both of the updates before restarting, and save some time.

As mentioned, this entire process is automated by the Green Eclipse WebSetup program. Unless a firewall or security software is preventing you from using WebSetup, we highly recommend that you use it.

How WebSetup is used

All Green Eclipse products are provided by WebSetup. Each product has a "Download WebSetup file" button on its product page. Clicking this button will download a tiny file. When this file is run, it checks to see if the necessary updates are in place. If they are not, they are automatically downloaded and installed, and then the product setup files are downloaded and installed as well.

If you would rather not use WebSetup...

You can elect not to use WebSetup. This may help if you need to install several copies of the software at once, administer a network, or are behind a proxy server or very restrictive firewall. To manually install the software, first make sure that you have downloaded and installed the two system updates described above. Then, click the "Advanced Options" link (in the left column) on the page for the product you want to install. Clicking this link will display a link to download the full setup package, letting you bypass WebSetup. As mentioned, it is recommended that you only do this if necessary.
